Boko Haram’s onslaught on the Nigerian state coupled with pockets of
armed insurgency in different parts of the country has earned Nigerian
an uneviable position of the 7th most-terrorised country in the world,
according to the latest ranking of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).

From the 16th position in 2008, Nigeria went down to 11 in 2009;
climbed a step up (12) in 2010;
